ike aftermath...

Surviving Ike. Our new motto. Lucklily, we survived. It was a scary night, but I consider us lucky. Our family survived and is well (even without power) and we still have a house to come home to. There are so many people in the Galveston and surrounding area that have no homes and lost loved ones. Just devastating.

All that's left now is debris, homes with no power, and LONG lines of people waiting for gas and water. Most of the school districts are closed through the week and you can't buy perishable items anywhere! We're just waiting for normalcy - whatever that is.

Still can't figure out why FEMA wasn't pro-active and didn't already have trucks here Saturday morning. People NEED water, ice, and food! Hello! We all knew Ike was coming. Where was the government? Didn't they learn their lesson 3 years ago with Katrina? We all make mistakes and Katrina was a BIG one for FEMA, but to make the same mistake twice?
