conversations with a 3 year old...

Oliver: "I handsome".
Mommy: "Yes, Oliver is handsome. Is mommy handsome"?
Oliver: "Yes. Mommy handsome".
Mommy: "Is daddy handsome"?
Oliver: "No. Daddy not handsome".
Mommy: "Why"?
Oliver: "Daddy crazy. Daddy crazy hair. No play with me".

Poor Mike. Crazy morning bed head makes him ugly and un-playable.

PS. I'm a teacher...the kids are driving me crazy...and I need a break or I'm going to go "postal" if I hear one more fucking tattle about someone's boogers!

santa claus is coming to town...

Mommy tip #1: Call Santa when your 3 year old needs a reality check.

Oliver's behavior has been pretty decent lately, except for a few moments here an there (which could be fixed if he'd take a freaking nap). Michael and I both had a brief bout with food poisoning this morning - terrible migraines, vomit, diarrhea, lots of sleeping. Thankfully, Oliver was sweet (but very playful) and Leni was good too. Of course, as the afternoon hit, Oliver's little "attitude" peaked it's evil head. After pulling my hair and elbowing me in the head while I was taking rest on the couch, I decided it was time to call Santa. Daddy took a quick "restroom break" while I called Santa. Oliver was more than excited to talk to him. He told Santa about his Christmas tree, all the things he wanted for the holidays and even lied about being nice to mommy. He was happy and I was giggling. At the end of the conversation, Oliver hung up and this was our conversation...

Mommy, "Did you talk to Santa"?

Oliver, "Yes"!

Mommy, "Oh, how fun! What did Santa say"?

Oliver, "Thank you".

Mommy, "Did he say anything else"?

Oliver, "No".

Umm. That's not what Santa said. I think I remember him saying something like, "be nice or no presents". Hmm. So much for the reality check.

let it snow...

IT SNOWED IN HOUSTON TEXAS YESTERDAY!!! Sounds silly that we're all going bonkers down here, but it snowed and it was coolest thing. It NEVER snows down here (ok, 4 years ago it snowed on Christmas day). Our winter kinda starts in December and ends by February. We can, literally, wear flip flops all year long cause it never gets below 32 here. I have no pics to prove that it snowed and it was short-lived, but it was a nice holiday gift. Hope we get lucky again.
