life is precious...

I got some shocking and terrible news this morning. A co-worker of mine (and someone I used to babysit), whose wedding was to be this Saturday, had everything taken away from her in a split, tragic accident. Her fiancee and high school sweetheart apparently drowned at his bachelor party last night.

WTF? That's all I could think. How can this happen? I'm beside myself and just can't imagine how this poor girl is going to be able to cope, accept, and move on with her life. They just closed on their first house together two days ago and had 8 days left until their wedding. This is the only man she has ever been with and ever loved. They had plans for the future.

My heart breaks for her. We all have that awful fear, that one phone call you never want to get. We watch things like this on the news and read it in the newspaper. Something like this just doesn't happen to people we actually know, right? It makes no sense.

It just goes to show you that life is so precious. The people you love can be take away so quickly. Your life can be turned upside down in a split second. It makes you realize that you can't dwell on the little things, life is so much bigger. Tell those close to you that you love them everyday because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
